Started out the day catching menhaden for my morning trip, the wind was already starting to pick up at 07:15 am so I tucked back into a creek so I could spot them popping. After a few cast I loaded up on menhaden then headed back to the dock to pick up John and Dave.

We started out fishing an incoming spot that has been producing big redfish the past week, after about 30 minutes with a few short strikes we moved on to another spot. The next spot was money and hooked 6 sharks with the biggest one being about 4 foot and one redfish. By this time the tide started to slow down and slacken, I quickly pulled anchor to get set up on a good outgoing spot before the tide officially turned. Once the tide started to really move out the bite picked up with a few sharks but we were still looking for that day maker redfish. 5 minutes later and a few bait changes we hooked up and landed a 39” 33-pound redfish. The biggest one so far this year on my boat. After we released it John told me that was his first redfish and I told him he was very lucky and don’t expect his next one to be as big!

A great day out with Dave and John and they went ahead and booked their fall charter to take home some meat!
